Jazmine Sullivan
Jazmine Sullivan was born in and brought up at home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mom has been a backup singer in the past at Philadelphia International Records. In the year she turned 5 old, her father landed an appointment as the curator of City's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family relocated to the landmark historical building. In 2005, a Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts graduated and a major in the area of vocal. Sullivan began singing in the school's choir as a contralto before joining the adult choir only a couple of years afterwards. Sullivan did not get exposed to secular music initially. "I started singing solos in churches, and one of my friends asked me to commit to record a gospel song when I turned 11. However, I was not ready for it," she says. "Then McDonald's offered a competition to children from major cities. In the end, I got the opportunity to perform Accept What God Wills on Showtime Apollo. The crowd was supportive." Stevie Wonder sang her part at his 13th birthday. Sullivan was initially signed to Jive Records at the age 15. There, she recorded an entire album, but the album never came out. Sullivan was later removed at the hands of the company. Her work had been in good connection along with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced some of her tracks such as "Backstabbers" that was written by Timbaland.
